Why arent there more volpinos, than dogs like the chihuahua and pomeranian?
I was looking for the type of breed of dog I wanted to buy in a dog encyclopedia and I came across a Volpino. i had never heard of the breed before, but the pictures of them are STUNNING. And from my research. they’re practically like big dogs (likes long walks, energized yet likes to lay on the couch as well, etc.) but in a small package; my dream dog. Yet I can’t find any Minnesota Volpino breeders. Why is this? Do they have alot of health problems or something? Are they super expensive?
Maybe cause they are rare in the states. So there are not many breeders. And yes they probably are expensive
There are only 4 breeders in the US, in good standing with the national breed club.

AKC did deny recognition of the Volpino Italiano into the FSS because the breed standard of the volpino is almost identical to that of the American Eskimo
Why not look for an AE? They are much more common than the Volpino but are still rare.
