Going to Chicago
As the heart of the Midwest Chicago has is an important city in terms of traveling, history, entertainment and location. Located on the shore of the Lake Michigan, Chicago is a great destination travel for people who love blues and jazz, comedy and the theater. With a great architecture and several skyscrapers that make the city’s skyline, the city is the home of millions of people with different ethnicities and this thing can be easily seen by walking around the neighborhoods. The city can accommodate the needs of all the tourists regardless of their holiday budget. There are luxurious hotels, restaurants and boutiques for people with unlimited budgets, but there are also reasonable priced accommodation places and eating places. With a multitude of places to see from churches and galleries to museums of art and science, Chicago is also a great place for spending your holiday outdoor on one of the many beaches or parks.
Like many of other big cities, Chicago can be a place where you can keep returning to visit new things and one can actually spend several months in a row to visit everything there is to visit in Chicago and its surroundings. The downtown has so many attractions that for some tourists this is the only part of Chicago they get to see during their short holidays. This is one of the cities where film and music celebrities can be seen quite often because Chicago is rated the third most productive town in the movie industry. Movies like the Blues Brothers, The Untouchables or Batman Begins where all made here. Chicago is also one of the cities where literature and writing in general is at home. Several books about Chicago or written by Chicagoans are bestsellers and theater and improvisational comedy are also at home in Chicago. The most well known theaters are the Steppenwolf, the Broadway in Chicago and the Auditorium.
If you do not want to go to theatres you can spend a day and a night by taking the Along the Magnificent Mile Itinerary or you can visit one of the many available museums or attractions like for example the Field Museum, the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Lincoln Park Zoo, the National Museum of Mexican Art of the museum of Photography. As with most of the tourist cities, if you are looking on getting some discounts at museums, attractions, restaurants and shops, look for the tourist cards available. In Chicago you can fin the Go Chicago Card and the City Pass. You can also walk around the ethnic neighborhoods where you can almost feel like you are visiting another country and another city. You can visit Chinatown, Little Italy or Greektown, the Spanish neighborhoods Pilsen and Little Village or the Polish one on the Far Northwest Side. Several beaches and parks are also available for locals and tourists alike. The main parks are the Grant Park, the Millennium Park, the Jackson Park, the Rogers Park, the Midway Park and the Lincoln Park. Out of the hundreds of events and festivals the most important ones are the Taste of Chicago which takes place in July, the Blues Fest, the Gospel Fest, the Jazz Fest and the Indie Rock Fest commonly known as the Lollapalooza. If you are a sport lover you probably know that Chicago is the home for the football team Chicago Bears, the basketball team Chicago Bulls, the hockey team Chicago Blackhawks and the baseball teams Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox.
To be able to visit as many things as possible during your holiday in Chicago you can consider riding a bicycle, using the buses, the taxis, the trains or the trolleys which are free but run only in the Loop and the Near North neighborhoods. To lower your holiday budget you can eat in many of the available fast foods, but two things you have to try are the famous deep dish pizza known as the Chicago pizza and the Chicago hot dog. In terms of accommodation, there are several budget priced places but most of them outside the downtown area. However depending on the location the prices can be as low as $20 per bed or as high as you can afford them to be. So no matter where you stay and where you eat you can have a wonderful holiday in Chicago.

Need a career change at 40. Just feeling depressed.?
Im 40 years old and here I sit. My girlfriend just dumped me a few months ago for a younger guy. He is more succesful too. A cop. They bought a house together with two dogs. Somethign i couldnt have given her since I work only as a concierge in a hotel and a sub teacher. I get so upset on why she left me. I loved her and now she sleeps in another guys bed while i sleep alone. I dont wnat to go the bars to meet peple. I tried dating sites and im attractive guy. But bars are out. At my age i want to be married. I want to have asolid career but it isnt happening! I am moving to chicago to find work. I have degree in political science. Im trying to find a career in Public relations or a lobbyist. I need direction on how to break into those two fields. I want to make something of myself before I turn 50! Im scared to death! I got to do it!…..I cant live liek this anymore or i will have two strikes against me–old age and being broke the rest of my life. I want my girl back too. Help me?
Hmm, I’m going through a similar situation. I’m 45 and here I sit!
Your girlfriend wasn’t worth staying with if she had eyes for another. Don’t you want to be with someone who adores you? I do. I know, easier said than done, and I admit I still pine for my ex-husband much too often! But we deserve better. I want to be with someone who is HAPPY to be with me and I with them. What’s the point, otherwise??
You have a degree in P.S. I think that is very admirable. You have two jobs–that is also admirable. You could be a cop, too, if you desired. You could do many things. Follow your heart.
Since I’m a bit stuck for a new direction, like you, I’m sorry I’m not able to come up with better advice than this. Stay strong, stay true to yourself and make a plan to live your best life yet.
