Litter Box for Maine Coon?
What do you use as litter box for your Maine Coon cat?
I’ve been to various pet stores (both onground and online).
The largest litter tray I’ve found is 2ft long.
The largest covered litter box is too small for a large cat.
What do you use as litter box for your big long cat?
Do you use a baby bath tub?
Do you use a dog’s igloo?
Do you let your cat out to solve the problem?
Does your cat tend to poop beside the box because the box is too small for her? Does she/he tend to apologise by their typical soft shrill and licking your feet for having done that?
Does your big cat greet you at the door after a long day and turns over to her belly at your feet looking at you expecting a tummy rub?
Does your cat turn door knobs and open the door to neighbours?
Does your cat follow you around like a dog does?
Seriously, what do you use as litter box?
I use something I got at a hardware store which I’ve seen used as a tub for mixing batches of cement at home for patching walk ways. Got it originally for a multi-cat house hold and found it quite suitable for my big fluffy Maine Coon Tom. Too big to cover and anyway I want to be able to scoop daily and it’s not too deep for him to leap into….about 3′X3 1/2-4′ and he has plenty of room. He’s been neutered and I don’t let him out unless I am with him because he will stand up to all comers. The shrill trill and the foot caresses of apology usually come when he has knocked over the contents of the breakfast table usually assisted by the two queens and back rolls can come at any time. I have to lock the screen door because he can open it. Our complex has several Maine Coons in residence so neighbors are familiar with feline locksmiths. Sundance was an abandoned boy I took in and had neutered to make him more attractive for adoption over a year ago. Wasn’t really all that anxious to part with him, but you would know that having spent more than two or three days with a Maine Coon insistent on adopting you. Follows like a dog, yes and spreads his body on the back of the couch as I do mine on the cushions. I was serious about the cement tub which was no more expensive than the larger cat boxes at PetSmart.
