Will a shock collar for my dog keep him from running away?

I have a 9 month old puppy, benji type. Everytime he runs away, he takes off and no one can catch him. The neighbors all come out to help, but as soon as someone sneaks up on him… he starts running again! Will a shock collar help him not to keep running?

I would try training classes or hiring a trainer first

The e collar will work but only if it is used by a professional handler. Too many people try to use these devices without proper knowledgege and this invariably does more harm than good.

I realise a lot of people will disagree here but I have no problem with this type of training if it is a last resort and could save the dogs life – livestock chasing, running into traffic etc,
