dog vomits for no apparent reason?

I have a beagle / sheltland sheepdog mix. For no apparent reason she vomits. Not all the time but enough times for me to think its abnormal. She doesn’t do anything stressful like playing hard after eating. she can just be sleeping, then wakes up and vomits. Most of the time her stomach is empty and all she vomits up is frothy foamy yellow stuff …. bright yellow stuff … why is she doing this and how do i prevent it?

If you are noticing this happening mostly at night or early morning on an empty stomach, that is most likely the problem. My first dachshund did that and the vet had me change his feeding schedule. I fed him his last meal of the day much later in the evening and that is also when he got the largest amount to eat. That seemed to really make a difference. He was able to get through the night without any upset tummy.
