Medicine for Dog Allergies – Can it Help?

So you think that your dog has allergies and are wondering if there are any medicine for dog allergies that helps your dog feel better or even cure his allergies?

The first and most important step, is to find out if your dog really has allergies in the first place, and if he does, what exact type of allergy it is.

Because then it helps you find the best cure for it, which otherwise will be impossible.

To find out if your dog really has allergies or it is just a temporary irritation or sickness, it is helpful to look at some of the most common symptoms of allergies in dogs:

  • Scratching – because of skin irritation
  • Sneezing
  • Coughing
  • Hair loss
  • Vomiting

If you see one of more of these signs more than seems to be normal, it is safe to think of the possibility of your dog having allergies.

But still another important question remains…

What type of allergies does your dog have?

The two most common ones are:

1. Food Allergies

2. Skin Allergies

Depending on which one it is, the medicine you’ll need to use for your dog will be different.

The good new is, for
dog food allergies
there may not be any medicine even necessary. Because the cure can be as simple as removing the allergic food from his diet.

Also you can always use “allergy free” dog food formulas that are available through many experienced vets.

But for skin allergies which are usually more serious, there are very likely some medicine necessary – depending on how serious it is.

Because some dog skin allergies are even infectious and viral, so special medicine will be needed to help cure your dog.

Since every dog is unique and his allergies are as well,
if you see serious signs of a

skin allergy
, it is highly recommended that you give a visit to the vet with your dog to find out the unique solution for him.

It is much safer than just guessing – especially when it comes to using medicine and your dog’s health.

Dog on craigslist – questions?

I found a dog on craigslist that we’re interested in. What other questions should we be asking?

Here is the ad – http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/pet/1514268676.html

Questions I’ve already sent in an email to ask (no response yet, as I *just* sent it):
How big is he? Where did you originally get him? Does he have any health issues? Would you mind if we contacted his vet to inquire about his health status? Where does Hendrix currently stay while you’re away from home all day? Does he have free roam of the house or a yard, or is he in a crate?

Food dog is use to
Vaccinations
Wormings
Heart Worm Test, when did the dog last have one…
Has the dog ever been tested for temperament of genetic defects.
Is the dog on Heart Guard Plus
Health Issues
House trained or not
Crate Trained
Is the dog use to being let out in the yard, is the dog a jumper, or does the dog stay in the fence when let out to potty or to play…
Does he get along well with other dogs/animals
Does he get along well with strangers/kids/older people
Has he had any major surgeries
Is he use to riding in a vehicle with no problems

And, the most important question of all, is Why Are You Wanting to get rid of the Dog?>???be sure they give you an answer…..it could be health issues, bad manners, can’t seem to get the dog house trained, does not like kids or other animals….or do they just not have time to care properly for the dog.

And, how long have you owned the dog.

get to the bottom of it all.

get a vet health certificate, direct you get it, do not allow them to just turn over any old piece of paper, it is easy to doctor paperwork, you contact the dogs vet and have it faxed to you…to you..

good luck
